Luz Futuro is a Spanish post punk band hailing from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, formed by the artist Daniel Benavides del Pino. The band’s sound reminds us of styles from the decades of the 80s and 90s such as new wave, synth-pop and post-punk. It’s been compared to artists such as New ORder, Golpes Bajos, Phil Collins, Soda Stereo, The Cure and The Smiths.
Their music has been through many iterations since the beginning of their career through Canarias, Berlin and Madrid, but is often identified in the Hispanic post-punk revival scene. Luz Futuro debuts 2020 with their first EP called Falsos Techos, edited by Twin Tribes-created American label Beso de Muerte Records which received a good welcome from the hispanic-american scene due to its nostalgic sound and songs such as Sueños.
In 2022 they joined Virgin Music and came back stronger releasing singles like No Me Olvides or Mirando Por El Visor, and participated as composer and musician in productions by artists such as Margarita Quebrada, Twin Tribes, VVV [Trippin’you] or El Último Vecino. Now, in 2024, with evident artistic maturity, Luz Futuro releases Tiempo y Ecos Perdidos as a taste of what will be their second EP “Ritmos del Tiempo” to be launched June 21.
